Radio Music Conference in Albany, GA

March 23, 2008

Saturday, March 22 – I just got back to Atlanta from Albany, GA attending the Radio Music Conference.  Turn-out may not have been as large as expected, but I definately got some much needed one on one time with movers and shakers in the industry. Shout out to Solo ( and Jawar ( for taking the time to put the conference together and invite myself and Judge ( out to participate.

Speakers included Entertainment Attorney John F. Christmas, Allen L. Johnston, Dj Judge Mental, Willie Hunter, John “J-Dogg” Shaw, and Goose (  Also available to network with was Rovella Williams (, B. Brown (Bar-Red Entertainment Group), and myself ( as well as many others.

This conference was not meant to be specifically about the music industry but the business behind it.  The headliner, Jawar, presented his seminar on “How To Make Money Online” (  It was AMAZING to me to see people want to leave early because no one was telling them how to get a record deal.  To me (yes, this is my PERSONAL opinion) there was more people at the showcase AFTER the seminar than actually DURING the seminar.  Don’t complain to me or any of the speakers about how you just ended up rapping to other rappers.  It was an honor to take some time and sit down with people who spend more time in OTHER countries, have a bank account that I would like to have, and was willing to speak with me.  These people told me how I could make REAL MONEY (and not just the American dollar).  I applaud the few that took that opportunity to go ahead and approach these speakers.  All that was asked was for you to bring a positive attitude and some breath mints (yes, your mouth does get to smell nasty with those grills in!!! besides, it’s just common courtesy).

Since I promote for the one and only Dj Judge Mental ( I have to mention him in here as well.  It’s only natural!  For those of you that don’t know his background, let me give you a little info.  He has been DJing for approximately 20 years now.  He has been in radio pretty much all that time so he is very current but does understand old programming standards as well.  He is currently a mixer at WXBT 100.1 The Beat in Columbia, SC.  Throughout his career he has been a Radio Personality, Turntablist, at Night Clubs, Exclusive Events, done Mixtapes, Concert Tours, International Club Features, and Remix Production.  Currently, he is touring with Q Parker (of 112) as his official DJ (  As busy as his schedule is, he always takes time to give back to the industry and teach up and coming artists.  On Saturday, he pointed out the trouble of artist ripping, sending, and properly labeling mp3s.  This man took the time to make a powerpoint (yes, an actual moving, functional powerpoint) to explain this to attendees.  Stay tuned as both video and the powerpoint will be available online within the next week.  Judge even went to the showcase afterwards and saw 2 artists perform that he enjoyed.  He critiqued them on the spot because he liked their music and wanted to see them do well.  If you believe that your music is well enough to send and you know how to send an mp3, email it with the subject Music Submission to:  If interested in being on his next Dirt Law mixtape call: 770.262.1371.  For booking call Laura at StarLIT PR: 678.334.8603.

Once again, I like to thank everyone that was down in Albany.  I truly appreciate the time you given me.  Also, shout out to Shock (now known as DJ Shock) for coming through and showing appreciation to Judge and me.
